Time Doesn’t Wait for Anyone
I was having a conversation with a friend recently about how easy it is to get completely lost in the sauce when you don’t have the right guidance.
It’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot.
He was telling me how he went through his old Notion notes from 2021.
All the goals he had set for himself.
How much money he wanted to make.
Where he expected his business to be in 2, 3, 4 years.
The crazy thing is…
He’s nowhere near where he thought he’d be.
But then he mentioned something that really got me thinking.
He started talking about this guy called Alex.
Someone he knew back when they were both broke university students.
Alex used to make free WhatsApp and Discord groups, recommend books to people and post long ass Snapchat stories talking about frequencies, mindset and all that stuff loool.
Nothing crazy.
Just a guy trying to figure things out like everyone else.
Fast forward a few years…
Alex is now making millions.
His coaching packages start at £50k per person, per year.
People are actually paying it.
A lot of people…
It’s actually insane when you think about it.
Because at one point, these were just two guys trying to figure out how to make their first bit of money.
Now their lives look completely different.
Which brings me to something I’ve been thinking about.
Why do some people figure it out so quickly while others spend years going around in circles?
I don’t think it’s always because one person is smarter than the other.
Or because one person works harder.
Sometimes it’s genuinely about who you have around you.
The information you’re exposed to.
The people who can tell you when you’re doing something completely wrong.
Most importantly, having the money to actually execute on the things you want to do.
My friend mentioned how Alex used to help another guy called James.
They’d go around different JD Sports and Smyths stores trying to find products to resell.
He even met up with them once.
Looking back, it’s crazy seeing how far some of these people have come.
Because they weren’t always these successful business owners you see online today.
They were literally just normal guys.
But somewhere along the way, things clicked for them.
That’s the part I find interesting.
Was it the people they surrounded themselves with?
Was it having access to better information?
Was it money?
Or did they simply make better decisions with the time they had?
Probably a combination of everything.
But one thing is certain.
Time is going to pass whether you figure it out or not.
2021 feels like yesterday.
Yet here we are.
Nearly 6 years later.
The goals people wrote down back then are either their reality today or they’re still sitting in their Notes somewhere.
That’s a scary thought.
Especially when you realise how quickly another 5 years can pass.
I don’t really have some crazy lesson to end this with.
I just think it’s worth paying attention to the people around you, the decisions you’re making and how you’re spending your time.
Because the people you’re looking at today who seem so far ahead of you were probably in a similar position to you a few years ago.
The difference between where they are and where you are might not be as complicated as you think.
But one thing you can’t afford to do is spend another 5 years figuring out the same things.
Because time isn’t going to wait for you.
