Rich People Love Saying Money Doesn’t Matter
I hate when people say “money doesn’t make you happy” or “money isn’t everything.”
Go to your landlord and tell him you’re happy.
He’s gonna say great, where’s your rent for this month?
Go to the supermarket and tell them happiness should cover your groceries. See how far that gets you.
Money might not be everything, but it’s a hell of a lot more than nothing.
I was scaling my business, genuinely excited about the progress I was making, telling this girl about it.
Her dad is worth maybe £50 million. She’s been rich her entire life.
Went to school in a helicopter, never had to worry about money once.
She tried to tell me money isn’t everything. That it doesn’t mean anything.
Easy to say when you’ve never been without it…
I’ve only been making money for a few years now.
Before that? I know what struggling looks like.
I know what it feels like to stress about bills.
To not be able to afford things I needed.
So yeah, money matters to me. A lot.
Because I know what life is like without it.
People who’ve always had money love to act like it doesn’t matter.
Like you should just be grateful and humble and not care about making more.
That’s bullshit.
That comment depends on your circumstances.
If you grew up rich, sure, maybe money feels meaningless to you.
You never had to fight for it.
But for me? For people who came from nothing?
Money is freedom.
Money is options.
Money is not having to stress about surviving.
So I’m gonna be happy and I’m gonna keep striving to make more and I’m gonna “pop my shit”.
Because I never had it and now I do.
Money doesn’t solve everything.
But it solves a hell of a lot.
Anyone who says otherwise probably never had to worry about it in the first place.
