Losing My First Big Client
I’ll never forget what it felt like losing my first big client.
I was at around 10k/m, and this client was paying me 3k/m.
I got a random text from one of the founders.
It was a long paragraph basically saying they’re not making enough profit anymore and how they need to lower their expenses for now.
I fell to my knees reading that text (pause).
I had just lost 3k from my 10k coming in monthly.
30% of my monthly income gone over a text message??
That’s not even the worst of it.
This started a domino effect. I had two more clients leave in the same month.
Total revenue lost in the space of two weeks… 80%.
I remember being in my room, just sat on the floor in pure darkness, feeling so depressed.
In that moment, I had to decide whether or not I’d get back up tomorrow and try again or quit.
Three months later…
I made all that revenue back + 6/7k more.
And looking back now, that loss did more for me than the money ever did.
It showed me how real this game actually is.
