I went to uni to buy time
In 2018, I started attending Coventry University.
I got a conditional offer to study one of the sciences. My mum and my family were so proud of me for being the first in my family to attend university.
But the truth is, I only went to uni because I didn’t want to face the real world straight out of college.
I felt like I only had two options:
- Get a job and try to figure out what business to do while working
- Go to uni and buy some time, so I didn’t have to work a job and find a business model that works
I picked option 2.
I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a boss. I hated the idea of working for someone else.
So I gave myself three years to figure it out.
Uni was never the dream, but I used the time well.
Looking back, part of me wishes I graduated. I won’t lie about that.
But I also can’t ignore the fact that I did what I set out to do.
I built a business. I made money. And I got out.
It might not make sense to my mum and family.
But for me, that time wasn’t wasted.
I bought it.
